Prepare payroll for the district, including related reports and deposits. Work under the close
supervision of the accounting supervisor to ensure accurate and timely preparation of payroll
records by following prescribed procedures and regulations.


Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of basic accounting procedures
Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records
Ability to use calculator (10-key by touch)
Ability to use personal computer and software to create spreadsheets, databases, and do word
processing
Proficiency in keyboarding and file maintenance
Ability to work with numbers in accurate and rapid manner to meet established deadlines
Ability to communicate effectively


Experience:
One year payroll accounting experience preferred.


Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Payroll and Accounting
1. Prepare payrolls, including supplemental and extra-duty pay, deductions, leave requests, and
terminations.
2. Prepare payroll checks and contact employees as necessary for pick up.
3. Monitor and process personnel time records for all district employees.
Data Entry
4. Prepare and post payroll changes including supplemental and extra-duty pay, deductions,
leave requests, and terminations.
5. Update and maintain substitute reporting system (AESOP) to coincide with software system
(TxEIS); ensure leave balances are accurate and updated monthly.

6. Maintain organized physical and computerized files including payroll records, absent-from-
duty reports, and service records.

7. Communicate with human resource department, campus secretaries, and employees to ensure
accuracy of information reported; resolve payroll problems and inquiries in a timely manner.
8. Maintain confidentiality of information.
9. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting,
climbing, etc.
10. Promote teamwork and interaction with fellow staff members.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.
