Primary Purpose:

The Social Emotional Learning Interventionist will support students by utilizing behavior interventions in and out of the classroom.  As a part of the multi-tiered system of support, this position will provide redirection to students on a Tier 2 level.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Counseling Degree or in the process

 

Special Knowledge/Skills/Ability:

            Ability to collect, summarize and graph behavioral data

Extensive knowledge and experience in the use of technology to support instruction and data collection

Demonstrate exceptional teamwork skills

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing

Must have the proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis

Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program

 

Experience:

Minimum of three years working with students with intensive social emotional needs preferred

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Provide technical assistance on tier 1 social emotional learning curriculum and school wide positive behavior interventions and supports
2. Model appropriate behavioral interventions for staff
3. Model appropriate instruction and social emotional interventions
4. Implement and monitor the implementation of social emotional interventions
5. Support staff and students in the school setting (i.e. during transitions between classes, beginning and end of the day, at recess lunch, and specials) with optimizing social interactions and social pragmatic instruction in real life situations
6. Create materials to provide social emotional supports that align with academic and social emotional programming
7. Collaborate with individual teachers, groups of teachers and/or the entire staff through training, modeling and meeting facilitation, on issues such as crisis intervention, childhood trauma, and the development and implementation of social emotional interventions
8. Provide direct support during times of escalated behaviors and/or crisis situations and coordinate team support

10. Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls and answer emails
